John Bell is a Vice President of the International Pharmaceutical Federation and a Past President of the Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association. He was President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia from 1987-1988 and President of the Australian College of Pharmacy Practice from 1996-1998. John is Principal Advisor to PSA’s Self Care health information and training program. John was a member of the NHMRC Health Care Committee from 1985-1993 and Deputy Chairman from 1991-1993. He was a member of the National Drugs and Poisons Schedule Committee from 1995-1999 and has served on the Poisons Advisory Committee NSW since 1974. He is also a board member of Medic Alert and Diabetes Australia (NSW), a member of the Health Promotion Committee of Asthma NSW and Honorary Pharmacist to the Coeliac Society. On behalf of Self Care, John writes a weekly newspaper column on health issues, distributed to 400 publications nationwide and presents the Friendly Pharmacist program each Thursday night on radio station 2GB. John is chairman of PSA’s Advocacy Taskforce and is a member of the Executive & Finance and the Refresher Course Committees. He is in a community pharmacy practice in Sydney.
